Strong Leaders, Righteous Men
Over the last one hundred and sixty years, Mars Hill University has undergone a serious of changes to both its physical make up and its core curriculum. One thing however, that has not changed is the dedicated faculty and staff that have served the student body loyally over the years. While this large group of both current and retired faculty and staff have worked hard to ensure that Mars Hill students are provided the best in a liberal arts education, the university has been able to prosper under the guidance and leadership of twenty-two strong and righteous men who have held the office of President of Mars Hill College/University.
From our first president William Albert Gallatin Brown (1856-1858) to current president John Anthony “Tony” Floyd, J.D. (2018-present), Mars Hill has been shaped by the men tasked with leading this great institution. From the unique presidency of Meriweather Lewis, to the second founding under Dr. Robert L. Moore, to the personal relationship between the student body and Dr. Hoyt “Daddy” Blackwell; take a moment to scroll through this exhibit and meet the men who had a unique vision for what Mars Hill could one day become.
